Italian Invasion

*This is a special episode, filmed in early April 2012.  We will be back with more Eurotrip 2011 videos in a week’s time.

After a lengthy delay, we’re back.  And fatter than ever!  It seemed that, once in Ohio (and Kentucky, Tennesee, Georgia, Florida…) you couldn’t go two exits without hitting a Cracker Barrel, Waffle House, or the oft-overlooked Bojangles.  Purveyors of fine fats and simple carbohydrates aside, the ride from Toronto was not for everyone.  Unless you are a masochistic insomniac with a penchant for straight-line towing of highly valued machinery on surreptitiously tight on-ramps coupled with the occasional stretch of (Michigan) highway that makes the surface of the moon look like a parquet floor.

The fun just started there, as we had a couple of days to debut the belles on the excellent Jennings GP track.  When you’re done watching this video, check out Ben Bostrom’s flying lap on youtube — if it’s not the track record, it was damn close.  After the track, we stretched our Ducati legs a little with a trip down to Daytona for a couple of days in the sun.

The final portion of the trip was part shopping spree, part riding vacation, courtesy of our good friends at http://www.bellissimoto.com.  Big thanks to Randy and Lyle for taking us on some of the greatest riding roads around Knoxville, Tennessee, and probably in the entire United States.  Cherohala Scenic Skyway, the Foothills Parkway, and of course, Deal’s Gap “The Tail of the Dragon”, to name a few favourites.  Try them in the rain to really feel alive.  To ensure that the Dragon was successfully slayed, multiple pints were consumed in some of Knoxville’s finest drinking establishments.  As a special parting gift, the State of Tennesee’s Finest offered Brett an offer to make a charitable contribution as a small token of appreciation of their scenery, roads, and hospitality.
